Metz Culinary Management Raises $73K Through Ruth’s Chris Steak House 6th Annual Golf Classic to Benefit Dinners for Kids Program

Dallas, PA – Metz Culinary Management, Inc. (Metz) has announced that it has raised $73,555 to benefit local charity Dinners for Kids through the 6th Annual Ruth’s Chris Golf Classic (Golf Classic) held at the Huntsville Golf Club in Dallas, PA. An all-volunteer organization, Dinners for Kids provides healthy meals to children in need living in Luzerne County, PA.

Since 2011, Dinners for Kids has provided nutritious meals to more than 10,500 food-insecure children in Luzern County, PA. The organization creates six balanced meals each week, delivered three days a week, to children who otherwise would not receive the nutrition they need to learn and grow.

After searching for opportunities to impact food insecurity locally, Metz became involved in raising money for Dinners for Kids in 2016 through the Golf Classic. Since 2016, Metz has brought in nearly $280K in support of the local charity, with proceeds from the Golf Classic increasing year-over-year for the past three years.

In September, 120 golfers participated in the sold-out Golf Classic. Nearly 50 sponsors from the local community and Metz’s vendors supported the event. Generous sponsors included Kegel’s Produce, one of Metz’s key vendors.

“Kegel’s Produce provides whole fruit year-round for Dinners for Kids to ensure that hungry children have six balanced meals each week with healthy, fresh fruit,” said Jeff Metz, President and CEO of Metz Culinary Management. “This is a significant, ongoing donation, providing whole fruit to feed hundreds of children, six times a week, all year long.”

Dinners for Kids depends solely on donations and grants. All monies donated to the program are used for the direct costs of preparing meals. As a volunteer-based organization, Dinners for Kids has no paid staff and no facility expenses. Funds raised by the Golf Classic represent 30% of the operating budget for Dinners for Kids.
