Service 1st Federal Credit Union held their Annual Charity Duck Derby Saturday, August 6, raising $15,000 for two local charities!

(Danville, PA) Service 1st Federal Credit Union held their Annual Charity Duck Derby Saturday, August 6, raising $15,000 for two local charities!

A large crowd turned out to join Service 1st’s Mascot Crissie and cheer for thousands of rubber duckies as they raced down the Susquehanna River toward the finish line located just past the Danville/Riverside Bridge.

“It was a great day for our Annual Charity Duck Derby,” said Dave Shope, Assistant Vice President Business Development, Service 1st and 2022 Service 1st Duck Derby Co-Chairperson. “We were excited to be able to host the duck drop again after experiencing high river levels and the COVID-19 pandemic over the past couple of years. We thank everyone who came out to cheer on the rubber duckies and who sponsored a duck in the big race. The support this event continues to receive is wonderful and provides a fun way to have a positive impact on our community.”

Over 3,515 ducks were part of the Derby; a new record for the event.

Funds raised by this year’s Duck Derby will be combined with those raised during Service 1st’s 28th Annual Charity Golf Tournament being held on Friday, August 26 to benefit The Good Samaritan Mission and ThinkBIG® Pediatric Cancer Fund.

Leading up to the event, individuals could purchase tickets for either a single duck or a flock of five ducks. Service 1st congratulates the ticket holders whose numbers matched those of the six ducks representing first through fifth place and the duckie that finished last.

2022 Duck Derby winners include: 1st place (Ticket # 1264) Jackie Hart, $500; 2nd place (Ticket # 725) Gail Haupt, $100; 3rd place (Ticket # 478) Elaine Schlegel, $100; 4th place (Ticket # 1081) Michelle Loff, $100; 5th place (Ticket # 1339) Laura Chocki, $100; and the last place finisher will also receive a special prize (Ticket # 3188) Elissa Concini. A member of the Duck Derby Committee will be reaching out to each of the winners.

In additional to the race, attendees enjoyed balloons, children’s activities and refreshments including free pizza.

Service 1st would like to thank Skyworks, LLC for providing transportation for the rubber ducks during the event, everyone who purchased tickets and the volunteers on the land and in the water.
