Next, we spoke to  Arthur W. Breese, Director of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion at Geisinger.

Q: I am inspired to be a leader in our community because…

A: I want to plant seeds for the trees that will grow that I may/may not see. I want to ensure that our children are prepared and competitive in a global society. This cannot happen unless we educated them in a multicultural environment.

Q: I am most excited to accomplish what through my diversity, equity, and inclusion community work…
A: My personal and professional goal is: To provide an equitable community/workplace in which every citizen is entitled to fair treatment, access, opportunity, and advancement for all while at the same time striving to identify and eliminate barriers that have prevented the full participation of some groups. 

Q: Three words to describe yourself…
A: Passionate, Committed and Tenacious
      
Q: My greatest achievement to date is…

A: Being the Camp Director for the Diversity Institute Camp at Misericordia University. It was one of the most profound transformational opportunities I’ve had in the DEI arena.

Q: Five years from now, I will be…
A: I will be the Chief Diversity Officer at a fortune 500 organization and or a top tiered health care institution.

Q: Best advice you’ve received…
A: “Never forget where you came from.”
   
Q: Favorite activity in NEPA… 

A: Dining out in the many restaurants in our region.
