(Intern)al Affairs - Yuppies in the Chamber

This week was a fun one.

Caitlin, Sarah and I spent the past few weeks putting together the Chamber’s annual “Christmas in July.” This event highlights small businesses and creates a day where all of the focus is on them.

Caitlin and Sarah contacted all of the local businesses for discounts and specials for the day and together we all worked on different graphics for the day. I didn’t have too big of a role on this project because it was more of an event for the Events and Development interns, but I was always around to provide input and suggestions and lend a helping hand when needed. The day of the event, July 25th, I made sure to stop by some of the businesses in the area. There were so many good food options it was almost overwhelming.

Later that same day, the Chamber held their annual “Young Professionals Kickball Tournament” and you know that the interns had to be involved. All of the summer interns from the Chamber decided to make a team and join in on the (slightly competitive) fun.

Our team, “Yuppies in the Chamber,” made it two games before being eliminated. Not the best, I know, but we all had a ton of fun! You could find our team based off of all of the yelling and excitement we were generating just by having the greatest time we possibly could. After we were eliminated, we stuck around for a while. There was a DJ, drinks and a bunch of food vendors who had delicious snacks. Everybody seemed to be having a great time.

In the next and final segment, I’ll be wrapping up what has been an amazing summer with the Chamber. See you then!
