Introducing The Wright Centers for Community Health and Graduate Medical Education, our 2025 Community Support Award recipient!

For nearly five decades, The Wright Centers for Community Health and Graduate Medical Education have advanced access to high-quality healthcare while developing the next generation of healthcare professionals across Northeastern Pennsylvania. Through an unwavering commitment to education, patient care, and community well-being, The Wright Centers continue to strengthen the region's healthcare workforce and improve health outcomes for thousands of residents.

Established in 1976 as the Scranton-Temple Residency Program, The Wright Center for Graduate Medical Education has grown into one of the largest U.S. Health Resources and Services Administration-funded Teaching Health Center Graduate Medical Education Safety-Net Consortiums in the nation. Today, it trains approximately 200 resident and fellow physicians and an additional 200 interprofessional healthcare professionals each year, helping build a strong pipeline of skilled providers prepared to serve communities across the region and beyond.

The Wright Center for Community Health's growing network of community health centers provides affordable, comprehensive, high-quality, whole-person primary and preventive healthcare services to people of all ages, income levels, and insurance statuses throughout Lackawanna, Luzerne, Wayne, and Wyoming counties. By offering integrated medical, dental, behavioral health, addiction and recovery, and Ryan White HIV services, patients can access the care they need in one convenient location.

Through its dual mission of graduate medical education and community health, The Wright Centers are helping address critical healthcare workforce needs while expanding access to essential services for underserved populations. Their commitment to education, innovation, and whole-person care continues to improve lives, strengthen communities, and create a healthier future for Northeastern Pennsylvania.
