Life of a GWB Chamber Intern: “All About Sara Biller”

Sara Biller is a senior at Penn State Wilkes-Barre and the next highlight in the Life of a GWB Chamber Intern series. Sara is set to graduate this May with a Bachelor’s degree in Management and Marketing. She, like Alexa and Liz, is a Wilkes-Barre Connect Intern at the Greater Wilkes-Barre Chamber.

Sara is a Greater Wilkes-Barre native from Hanover Township, where she attended the Hanover Area High School. She has two half-brothers and a cat named Lucy. While attending college at Penn State Wilkes-Barre, Sara balances her schedule of working at Wegmans, taking care other studies, and adding the Chamber internship to her schedule this Spring.

Working with the Wilkes-Barre Connect Program, the Chamber, and her school, Sara developed the Wilkes-Barre Connect Student Series: Break the Barre-ier Workshops, along with her partner Taylor Finan. This program was designed for students with the intention to link them with local businesses and give them the opportunity to network and develop professional business skills.

Apart from her school and work duties, Sara has a passion for music and art. She enjoys learning about graphic design and developing her skills, which she has been able to do through the Chamber internship. In general, she likes being creative, drawing, painting, photography, and developing content. Sara also follows her passion for music by going concerts and music festivals. She says that she probably attends about 18 concerts and festivals each year. “I love the energy of being in a crowd and listening to the music,” says Sara.

During her free time, Sara watches her favorite show, Friends, on Netflix. She says that she identifies with the character Phoebe in the show because she has a strong and independent attitude. She admires the fashion and how the different styles evolve throughout the show as well. Sara has a deep interest in fashion, and even wanted to be a fashion buyer like the character Rachel.

Now, Sara has shifted her goals for the future and what kind of job she would like to attain. She is still very focused on creativity and expressivity. However, she is looking more towards social media management, graphic design, or event coordination. She plays with the ideas of possibly working in the beauty industry or interior design.

“I am always looking for opportunities to network, learn and improve on my skills,” says Sara. After graduation, Sara wants to continue pursuing graphic design and digital arts, so she is looking to possibly take a couple courses to expand her knowledge and cultivate her skills. She also hopes to live somewhere warm in the future.
