Meet Chamber Ambassador Amber Loomis!
We sat down virtually with our Chamber Ambassador Council Chair, Amber Loomis, Director of Development & Community Relations at the Osterhout Free Library, in this month's Chamber Ambassador Spotlight!
A little bit about Amber: When she's not volunteering across the community, in her spare time, you can find Amber with her friends and boyfriend, Andy. She loves to travel and thinks that dogs are pretty great, too!
Read the full Q&A with Amber below to learn even more about her!
Q: What do you do in your current professional role, and what is your favorite thing about your job?
A: My current professional role involves planning our special event fundraisers like the recent Gala and our upcoming Rooftop Party, grant writing and social media outreach. What I enjoy most in my role is getting out in the community to talk about all the hard work happening at the Osterhout and why it's so important to support the library. I also very much enjoy meeting our donors and learning why they support the Osterhout. Some have such personal and pretty amazing stories that led them to donate to and/or volunteer their time at the library.
Q: What causes/organizations are you involved with in the community?
A: I serve on the Board of Directors for the Greater Wyoming Valley Chamber of Commerce, Dress for Success Luzerne County, Rainbow Alliance and Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) NEPA Chapter. I also volunteer my time with Leadership Wikes-Barre and Wilkes-Barre Rotary.
Q: What is your favorite thing about the Wyoming Valley and how do you like to spend your spare time?
A: Oh gosh! I am not sure I could just pick one or even two things. It's truly a beautiful place to live all year round. There's so much to do, see, visit, eat, etc!
Q: Why did you choose to get involved in the Chamber Ambassador Council and what are you most looking forward to?
A: I was approached years back and jumped at the opportunity. I was not super familiar with the Wilkes-Barre area at the time and wanted to meet new people. Little did I know the impact it would have on my personal life and professional career.
Q: What are you most looking forward to about being a part of the Council?
A: Learning even more about what the Wyoming Valley has to offer and making connections with those who want to make a difference in the community.
