Meet Chamber Ambassador Ryan K. Hertel!
We sat down virtually with Chamber Ambassador Ryan K. Hertel, Owner & Creative Director of Socialocca Marketing Agency, to learn more about some of his favorite things about NEPA and some of the great organizations that he spends his time supporting. Read the full Q&A with Ryan below!
Q: What do you do in your current professional role, and what is your favorite thing about your job?
A: My main professional role is as the Owner & Creative Director for Socialocca, my online marketing agency. Over the next 12 months though, I'll be continuing to slowly yet consistently push for my own personal brand, Ryan K. Hertel. This is just sort of my 'final step' in converting my brand to be seen as an 'entrepreneur' role where I'm able to practically manage my varying business ventures.
Q: What causes/organizations are you involved with in the community?
A: Through virtual involvement, I've still been able to offer support to NEPA based groups and organizations such as our Chamber Ambassadors Group, Northeast Nonprofit Connect, Hazleton's CAN DO, Wilkes University's Small Business Development Center, and guest speaking opportunities for local schools/colleges.
Q: What is your favorite thing about the Wyoming Valley and how do you like to spend your spare time?
A: The pizza. That's a non-negotiable. But if food is disqualified, I've come to really appreciate the outstanding sense of 'community'. Many complain that 'everyone knows everybody' is a disadvantage, and I can respectfully understand why. But even still, knowing and being able to relate to so many others provides a 'community' touch that's responsible for bringing people together for parties, holidays, local events, Friday nights, and so much more.
Q: Why did you choose to get involved in the Chamber Ambassador Council and what are you most looking forward to?
A: It all just fell into place. I genuinely can't tell you where I ever even agreed, but it was never something that needed to be agreed upon. Through organic involvement downtown + throughout much of northeastern Pennsylvania in general, supporting my local area just became part of the mission. Being a Chamber Ambassador keeps me close to the action, and I just naturally want to keep up.
Q: What are you most looking forward to about being a part of the Council?
A: My reason to be involved is to keep my finger on the pulse of NEPA. And it works. So, I'm looking forward to having this network keeping me informed and in the loop.
