Meet the 2017 Young Professional of Year Award Nominees: Rob Bresnahan

Robert Bresnahan Jr., 27, is a lifelong Northeastern Pennsylvania native. He attended Wyoming Seminary Preparatory School in Kingston, PA before continuing his education at the University of Scranton where he obtained a BS in Business Administration. Robert is the Chief Financial Officer of Kuharchik Construction Inc. headquartered in Exeter, Pennsylvania. A third generation family business which focuses on highway electrical construction such as Traffic Signals, Intelligent Transportation Systems, Decorative Streetscape and Highway Lighting. Incorporated in 1972, Kuharchik Construction Inc. is a union contractor that employs over 100 people throughout the state of Pennsylvania with satellite locations in Philadelphia, State College, Harrisburg, Stroudsburg, and Allentown. Rob is honored to continue to carry his family’s legacy and is constantly looking to broaden the company’s capabilities. Their mission includes serving their clients with the utmost level of expertise while continuing the company’s philanthropic mission of serving the local organizations within the community.  

Rob has always been an active member of his community serving on various boards and donating his time to many professional and civic organizations. Currently, he serves on the Board of Directors of the Wyoming Valley Catholic Youth Center, Forty Fort Cemetery Association, National Electrical Contractors Association, IBEW 163 Joint Apprentice Training Committee, Exeter Proud, Luzerne County Industrial Development Authority, Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Bridge Advisory Board and served as the 2016 Bowl for Kids’ Sake corporate chairperson.  As well as serving on boards he is a member of Wyoming Rotary Club, Irem Shrine, Wilkes-Barre and Pittston Chambers of Commerce, Wyoming Seminary Alumni Council, and West Wyoming Hose Company #1. One of his strongest passions has always been giving back to his home through servient leadership. Rob is a 2016 Graduate of Leadership Wilkes-Barre and is active in many local charitable endeavors such as the SPCA of Luzerne County, and Jr. Leadership Wilkes- Barre Advisory Council.

Q: What does being a business or community leader mean to you?
A: An effective community leader is a person who is fully invested in a well communicated vision. This person possesses an inextinguishable passion for a particular mission while engaging others to achieve a common goal. 

Q: What advice would you give to young professionals in Greater Wilkes-Barre who want to have a positive impact on the community?
A: My advice to a young professional who wants to make a positive impact in the Greater Wilkes – Barre area is to roll up their sleeves and get involved. There are a variety of worthwhile organizations that can truly benefit from youthful vision and energy. Discover a cause that aligns with your values and make a difference.
