Meet the 2018 Emerging Business of the Year Recipient: Building at 900 Rutter

The Building at 900 - Emerging Business of the Year, sponsored by PNC Bank

“It has been an honor to serve as a small part of the vision that David Koral has bestowed on the NEPA community.  The 900 building is living proof that an idea and dream can become a reality and this dream is a gem of not only the local community but a landmark in our society as we know it.” – John Philips, Owner at MCR Design Group

From fresh food to odds and ends, lifestyle studios to exclusive fashion outlets, 900 Rutter is a sought curiosity of the valley to explore. Built in 1903, 900 Rutter has certainly seen its share of history. In 2001, mixed media artist David Koral purchased this historic property at auction. In 2002, David convinced Toni Credo to join him in his dream. 900 Rutter continues to evolve and flourish as a 138,000 square foot commercial and residential property.

Over 20 unique businesses of all shapes and sizes are located within the space, including Hocsox, Sweet Lush Cupcakery, Balance Yoga and Wellness, Blue Square Builders, Boote Photography, The Room at 900, Canteen 900, Commonwealth Home Health of Wilkes-Barre, the Haberdashery, Sheri Pilates, MCR Productions, the Nook, Valley Running Company, Sugar Plum Chocolates, Taboo Pole Dance Fitness, Ubu Clothing, Halibut Blue, Sakari Salon and Spa, Sakari Imaging, the Shop, and Rustique. Additionally, 900 Rutter is the home of countless artistic representations, including paintings, metal sculptures, and repurposed art work. David Koral and local artists are continuously adding to the magic of the place and transforming it into a living work of art.

“900 Rutter has brought excitement to NEPA and introduced a diverse attraction to an area that needed it most. David has spent the last several years not just ‘emerging’ as a business builder, but cultivating a space that encourages forward thinking individuals to really tap into their inventiveness.” – Ryan Kenton Hertel, Owner & Founder at Socialocca
