Luzerne County Head Start, Inc.
Luzerne County Head Start, Inc. works alongside Geisinger Health Plan’s wellness programs in order to work together and develop annual wellness plans catered to their workforce. Luzerne County Head Start, Inc. works to improve the health of their employees by offering screenings such as blood pressure, weight management, glucose, lipid panels, and bone density screenings. Through challenges that focus on weight management, such as the “March Mayhem Walking Challenge,” the holiday-themed “Maintain Don’t Gain,” and the development of annual screening and wellness plans, LCHS continues to develop a culture of wellness and self-improvement. It is their hope that such programs help LCHS employees lead healthy lifestyles, but also help their staff to become role models for the communities in which they serve.
PA CareerLink of Luzerne County at Wilkes-Barre
PA CareerLink of Luzerne County works with Sonic Boom (EDSI) and Get Healthy (PA State) to establish and maintain a healthy workplace that encourages environmental and social support for a healthy lifestyle. Through the creation of a healthy recipe cookbook as composed by staff, ordering standing desks and exercise equipment, developing wellness challenges, such as staying hydrated, eating smart, and weekly movements, and holding Throwback Thursday team morale activities, PA CareerLink staff have experienced an overall improvement in their mental and physical well-being. PA CareerLink of Luzerne County hopes to continue their wellness efforts in the future through the utilization of these tools and further expansion of their wellness challenges to include meditation and additional stress reducing activities.
Riggs Asset Management
Riggs Asset Management works diligently to promote a healthy workplace. Through their partnership with studio BE, Riggs employees participated in a 16-week mindfulness training curriculum which provided their lifelong lessons on how to cultivate their own inner resources.
