Meet the 2019 Volunteer of the Year: Cathy McHugh

Cathy McHugh
Founder and Vice President of Fields Enterprises, Inc.

Cathy McHugh is the founder and Vice President of Fields Enterprises, Inc. She was the former Director of Public Relations for her family’s advertising agency and played an integral role in the incorporation of Fields Enterprises in 1992. Over the last 31 years, she’s focused her professional career on the branding business.

Following the example of her mother, Cathy has been involved in her community since she was 15 years old, giving her time to the Crippled Children’s Association, now known as the Wyoming Valley Children’s Association. In 1985, she became a member of the Junior League of Wilkes-Barre, where she chaired the Ways and Means Committee. She continued her community involvement as an Executive Board Member of the American Cancer Society for 20 years.

Extending her passion of fundraising for nonprofits, Cathy serves on multiple committees for the Osterhout Library, the North Branch Land Trust, Northeast Sight Services, the United Way, King’s College, Luzerne County Head Start, Rich Soil/Carrie Flower, the Jewish Community Center, the Luzerne/Lackawanna County Medical Societies, Maternal Family & Health Services Resource Development, Junior Achievement of NEPA, and numerous local golf tournaments.

Additionally, she serves on multiple committees for the Greater Wilkes-Barre Chamber of Commerce and is a board member of Dress for Success Luzerne County. She is a past president and member of the Wyoming Seminary Alumni Council and serves on the school’s golf and 175th Anniversary Gala committees.

Cathy attended Wyoming Seminary and Cedar Crest College, and is a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Wilkes-Barre. She was married to her husband John for 25 years, who passed away in 2012. Cathy resides in Kingston while their son Jesse lives in Brooklyn, New York, and is an editor for Skyhorse Publishing.
