Meet the 2020 Young Professionals Category Finalists for Voluntary Leader of the Year!

Alexandra Kijek, Board of Directors at Friends of Camp Louise

Alexandra first started camping at Camp Louise as a Girl Scout in 2000 and immediately developed aspirations of becoming a camp counselor as soon as she was old enough. That passion never died, but before she could accomplish that goal, she watched the camp get closed slowly, ultimately being put up for sale in 2016. She and several other local women started a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization dedicated to saving the camp, were ultimately successful in doing so, and now continue with the mission of maintaining Camp Louise as a fully functional outdoor facility with community youth camping and programming once again.

Amy Feldman, Director of Development for Northeast Sight Services

Amy Feldman is a lifelong resident of the Wyoming Valley and is a proud graduate of The Pennsylvania State University, where she earned a BA in Communications, specializing in Advertising and Public Relations, and of Misericordia University, where she earned a MA in Organizational Management, specializing in Marketing. She currently is the Director of Development for Northeast Sight Services – a local nonprofit dedicated to serving the needs of the blind and visually impaired community with the utmost pride and commitment. She has spent over a decade in support of community nonprofit organizations as both staff and in volunteer capacities. Amy serves on the Board of Directors of Penn State Wilkes-Barre’s Advisory Board and the Advocacy Fund for Grandparents Raising Grandchildren. She is also a member of the Greater Wilkes-Barre Chamber of Commerce’s Young Professional Council, is a 2016 graduate of Leadership Wilkes-Barre, and belongs to the Association of Fundraising Professionals-NEPA Chapter. She is truly passionate about serving and giving back to the community that she calls home. Amy is constantly on the go – always looking for something new and fun to do with her always supportive husband, Drew, and their energetic seven year old son, Camden, and rescue pup, Willy.

Harlan Tabron Jr., Director of Youth and Children's Ministry at Mt. Zion Baptist Church

Over the past decade, Harlan has dedicated his life to serving young people; be it coaching track or basketball, working alongside staff of the county juvenile probation, or as the Director of Children's and Youth Ministry at his church. He believes that a young person needs at least three strong adult mentors in their lives to help them learn how to skillfully navigate this world. Harlan is honored to be one of those three people, whenever he has the opportunity to do so.
