Meet the Category Finalists for the 2022 Young Professional Trailblazer of the Year

Jimel Calliste, President of the Wilkes-Barre NAACP

Jimel defines himself a natural-born leader. He is results-oriented, constantly checking in with the goal to determine how close or how far away he is and what it will take to make it happen. He loves the community and is always looking for ways to be visible and available to those in need.

Emilia McCormick, Director of Operations for the United Sports Academy

Emilia is the co-owner of the Mayfield Sports Complex located in Mayfield, Pennsylvania as well as the co-founder of Athletes Caring Together, a non-profit organization helping low-income families get involved in sports. She is also the Director of Operations for United Sports Academy. She started working for USA, a family-owned business, in May of 2006, where she worked as a birthday party coordinator and helped out in the office. From that point on, she worked her way up through every aspect of the business including Class Instructor, Office Manager, Social Media & Marketing Manager, Program Director, and now Director of Operations. About 6 years ago, she started the ninja program at USA, back when they were only located in Dunmore, PA. Since then, they have expanded into three locations: Dunmore, Scranton and Mayfield, where Emilia played an instrumental role in the design and development of the facilities, equipment, and obstacles involved, as well as the programs offered.

Holly Yorkonis, Community Revitalization Coordinator for United Neighborhood Centers of NEPA

Holly's favorite part of community revitalization is creating sustainable programs and events for residents in the community. During her off time, she and her husband Matt enjoy local arts and restaurants! Holly also spends her time painting and creating as she participants in First Fridays. Her art speaks volumes by advocating for women's rights, and donating a portion of sales to local women's organizations. Community involvement is her passion and she believes that creating positive impact starts at home.
