MEET THE INTERN- DIANA RODRIGUEZ

Next up on my interview list is Wilkes-Barre Connect intern, Diana Rodriguez. She is one inspiring young professional. She liked the Wilkes-Barre Connect intern program so much that she came back for another round! Thank you to Diana for sitting down with me.

Q. What is your name? Where did you attend college and what is your major?
A. My name is Diana Rodriguez and I am currently a student at King’s College majoring in accounting with a minor in marketing.

Q. What do you like to do in your spare time? (other interesting facts)
A. I have been playing tennis for seven years and play on the King’s College tennis team. I also coach tennis. In my spare time, I also like to draw and paint.

Q. Do you have another job? Are you involved in any other organizations?
A. I’m a tennis instructor at Wyoming Valley Tennis in Kingston.

Q. What brought you to the Greater Wilkes-Barre Chamber of Commerce?
A. I am actually a previous Connect intern. One day I opened up my e-mail and saw that Wilkes-Barre Connect was hiring for an intern again so I decided to apply.

She enjoyed her time so much the previous semester that it was easy for her to reply back with her resume. Funny how things work out!

Q. What does a typical day look like for you at the Chamber?
A. I start my day off at the Chamber by getting myself an iced hazelnut coffee from Dunkin Donuts no matter what the weather is like. After getting coffee in my system, I grab my laptop and start working.

Q. One word to describe your experience?
A. “Amazing.”

Q. What are your goals after graduation?
A. It is my dream to one day own my own business. I really enjoy working in the field of marketing and believe that the people I interact with here at the Greater Wilkes-Barre Chamber of Commerce can help me out in the future.

Q. Any tips for others who might be thinking about the internship?
A. Just do it. If you are a student that receives an e-mail about an internship opportunity, jump on it. Don’t psych yourself out and just apply. The people that I have met through the Wilkes-Barre Connect program inspire me on a daily basis.
