MEET THE INTERN - JOHANNA KOCH

Johanna is also an intern at Wilkes-Barre Connect, with a focus on the Wilkes-Barre Connect Pitch Program. A big thanks to Johanna for taking some time out of his schedule to answer some questions for me!

Q: What is your name? Where did you attend college and what is your major?
A: Johanna Koch, Wilkes University (transfer student from Kutztown University), Business Administration, Certificate in School Business Administration

Q: What do you like to do in your spare time? (other interesting facts)
A: I love to get outdoors; I live close to Nay Aug in Scranton and can walk to the trails with my dog from my house! I also enjoy kayaking, taking weekend trips to new cities and going out to see some live music.

Q: Do you have another job? Are you involved in any other organizations?
A: Yes, I’m an account manager at a startup company called VR Guest.  We specialize in providing 360-degree photography services to businesses, real estate agents, weddings, and so much more.

Q: What brought you to the Greater Wilkes-Barre Chamber of Commerce?
A: I found this internship through a job fair at Wilkes, and it sounded like a great experience that could open up a lot of doors for me.

Q: What does a typical day look like for you at the Chamber?
A: I work every Tuesday and Thursday in the Think Center at the Chamber.  Usually I come in from 9am to 4pm, help out Joe with any general administrative tasks are necessary, and work on market research, business plan development, and pitch deck preparation for local entrepreneurs.  I also attend any event thrown by the Chamber that I can and take advantage of the networking opportunities.

Q: One word to describe your experience?
A: Engaging

Q: What are your goals after graduation?
A: I will be receiving my Bachelor of Business Administration this May, so I’m trying to find a job! Any job. Ideally, I would like to start with a company, grow my professional skills and move up within the organization. I would also like to get a masters sometime in the future.

Q: Any tips for others who might be thinking about the internship?
A: You miss 100% of the shots you don’t take.
