Small Business Snapshot: Scent-Sations, Inc.
“We have a lot of irons in the fire, and we’re excited about the future of bringing more people on to work. To be able to manufacture a product here and to sell it in another country is powerful,” says CEO Robert Scocozzo.
Scent-Sations has most recently spent time in the United Kingdom, at a Taste of London event and a large holiday show in Manchester, breaking into a market that had previously been unaware of their candles.
Their triple-scented candles come in a variety of aromas and specialty lines, like their wine collection, spa collection, orchard collection, coffee table collection, 16 oz. collections, and 8 oz. collections. They even feature a bakery collection, which includes realistic pie and cake candles and a free spirit line, which are made from natural palm wax and hemp oil and come in 15 different scents Scent-Sations also offers hand-painted simmer pots and specialty melts - products that have more than doubled in popularity for them within the past 2-3 years.
Scent-Sations has 8,000 – 10,000 people in the US and Canada who run their own home businesses selling candles on a part-time basis. The company takes pride in the business network that they have built, which allows people to make extra and necessary income without having to spend large amounts of money to start a home business.
Fundraising has remained a large focus for the company. They offer personalized labels, personalized hand painted simmer pots, and some personalized scents. Locally, they have worked with Coughlin High School, Meyers High School, St. Jude’s Church, Northwest High School, and Heights Elementary School this holiday season, as well as other organizations around the country.
“We just like being involved in the community, because this is where we grew up. I was born and raised here. Our families grew up here. This is our home, and we are blessed to be able to live and work here…What a great day it is to wake up and be in business with something that you love doing, along with your family,“ conveys Scocozzo.
