Learn about Wilkes-Barre history through the lens of the O’Neill Family. Cecile Rose O’Neill was the second daughter of William Patrick O’Neill, bookseller and businessman and Alice Cecelie Asenath “Sena” Smith, school teacher. They lived 10 blocks south of Main Street in the Emerald Cottage dedicated to “Friendship, love, truth, and liberty!” Situated on Meade Street, “Emerald Cottage” was a country gothic bungalow with gingerbread trim, surrounded by fruit trees and a garden.
