We are excited to have you join us for this National Civics Bee® Regional Competition! See below for logistical information and agenda. Please click on the registration button to register your student, and up to 3 additional family members or friends. 

Location: Luzerne County Community College, 521 Trailblazer Dr, Nanticoke, PA, 18634, (Building 10, See Campus Map Below) 

Attire: School-appropriate.Pictures will be taken, and the media will be invited.

• Competition Begins      
  • Round 1: 10 multiple-choice questions.
  • Round 2: 10 multiple-choice questions.
  • Round 3: Judge Q&A*
• Winner Announcement & Awards Ceremony

Notecards:

During Round 3 (Judge Q&A), your child may bring one 4” x 6” notecard with handwritten notes on both sides. Your child’s notes should include an outline or key points, not full sentences or answers. Your child cannot read directly from the notecard during their response, and no other materials are allowed.

Join us to celebrate local students and flex your civics knowledge at a community event for the National Civics Bee!

In recent years, Americans’ civic knowledge has fallen significantly, with 47% not being able to name all three branches of government. At the same time, 76% of 8th graders score below proficient in civics. Through the National Civics Bee, we aim to reverse this trend and inspire a new generation of Americans to be civically engaged and active in shaping the future of our communities and our nation. 20 students will take part in the local competition after their essays were chosen from among over 100 entries. These students will participate in a live quiz event and will answer questions from judges to test their civic knowledge!
