Back Mountain Community Conservation Day Celebrates Regional Outdoors

(Dallas, PA) Fall is in full swing and for those looking for a fun, engaging activity, look no further than attending the first Back Mountain Community Conservation Day. The event, to be held on Thursday, October 10th at Lt Michael Cleary Drive on the David and Judith Rimple Loop will poise the opportunity to hike, play games, enjoy local food trucks, and much more.

North Branch Land Trust is proud to co-host events like this as they look to continue their mission of encouraging responsible outdoor recreation both in stewardship and land use. The Land Trust’s office overlooks the Loop, part of the larger Anthracite Scenic Trails Association’s Back Mountain Trails.

Executive Director, Ellen Ferretti said, “As the seasons begin to change and cooler weather prevails, there is no better way to enjoy it than being outside! On this Community Day, it is important that we not only look back at what has been done to help conservation, but to also to look to the future and advocate for work that will continue these efforts for the next generation.”

North Branch Land Trust is not the only community and conservation organization who will be sharing their work. Some of the presenting organizations for this event include Anthracite Scenic Trails Association, Back Mountain Chamber of Commerce, Dallas Township, Eastern PA Coalition for Abandoned Mine Reclamation, The Lands at Hillside Farms, PA Environmental Council.

Presenting organizations will also have games and activities throughout the event. Local food trucks like Wicked Pissah Lobster Company, The Ice Cream Truck 1961, and Sammy P’s Cocina will also be vending at Lt Michael Cleary Drive.

With the combined support of these organizations and the Back Mountain community, the success of this year’s Back Mountain Community Conservation Day will leave a lasting impact on those attending.
