Service 1st Donates $270K to Local Charities

(Danville, PA) - Service 1st Federal Credit Union presented donations to more than fifty-five local nonprofit organizations just in time for the holidays through its annual Magic of the Season initiative.

Throughout December, $270,000 was awarded to organizations serving communities throughout northeastern and central Pennsylvania. The donations supported a variety of local causes, ranging from children’s causes to libraries and food assistance programs. Overall, five charities in each of the credit union’s market areas received donations.

As part of the initiative, the Service 1st team surprised organizations throughout December, helping nonprofits close out the year with additional support for their important causes.

This year’s Magic of the Season initiative held added significance as Service 1st celebrated its 50th anniversary, with members playing an active role in helping select the organizations receiving donations.

“Reaching our 50th year is a reminder that Service 1st has always been about more than financial services,” said Michael Thomas, President/CEO of Service 1st Federal Credit Union. “It’s about showing up for one another, listening to our communities, and finding meaningful ways to support what matters most. Initiatives like Magic of the Season help carry that momentum forward as we step into the new year.”

Representatives from recipient organizations have expressed appreciation for the support, noting that the donations helped fill funding gaps and strengthen programs that serve local communities.
