Read the full Q&A with Mike below!
Q: What do you do in your current professional role, and what is your favorite thing about your job?
A: I handle print, digital and multimedia advertising for all sizes customers at The Times Leader. I also write a weekly column called Around Town where I highlight all that is positive and fun in the Wyoming Valley. I began my career as an obituary clerk and worked my way up to a reporter in 2008. I left the Times Leader for several years to work in the digital media industry, where I handled national digital advertising campaigns for major communications and apparel brands, but returned to the Times Leader in a completely different role in 2017.
Q: What causes/organizations are you involved with in the community?
A: Junior Achievement of NEPA, CASA of Luzerne County, Boost Business NEPA, Wilkes-Barre POWER, Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Bridge. I especially enjoy helping children because they’re our future and I believe reaching a person at an early age influences the rest of their lives.
Q: What is your favorite thing about the Wyoming Valley and how do you like to spend your spare time?
A: The variety of businesses. We span every industry and genre here. I love the small business community and the commitment to help it prosper. The way the area’s people come together during trying times is outstanding and inspiring. We can find everything we need here, with easy access to travel opportunities.
Q: Why did you choose to get involved in the Chamber Ambassador Council and what are you most looking forward to?
A: There are amazing businesses that deserve attention, and by being Chamber Ambassador I am able to help do that. So many business owners are busy and can’t market themselves as they should; that’s where we can help!
Q: What are you most looking forward to about being a part of the Council?
A: The endless possibilities for networking and connecting with many professionals and like-minded folks who want to keep improving this area. There is a lot to be said about people working together towards a common goal.
Q: Tell us a little bit about you!
A: I’m grateful to be a part of so many phenomenal organizations and causes locally. This community is always working together and reinventing. I continually look forward to what’s next, while trying to really stay attentive to what’s happening in the present.
