Meet the 2020 Young Professionals Category Finalists for NEPA Influencer of the Year!
Christine Mackin Meluskey, Director of Development and Marketing at Wyoming Valley Children's Association
Christine Mackin Meluskey is the Director of Development and Marketing for the Wyoming Valley Children’s Association, a local non-profit that provides educational and therapeutic support services to children of all abilities. Christine is a graduate of West Chester University, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication Studies with a minor in Website Technology. Starting her fundraising career at her alma mater, she held numerous positions at The West Chester University Foundation, including the Director of Annual Giving.
Christine is an advocate for promoting the remarkable people, places, and amenities that NEPA has to offer. She volunteers her time and resources through involvement with various community organizations. She is the current President of the Wilkes-Barre Rotary Club, where she has led progressive changes to the club’s format and helped raise thousands of dollars for programs that focus on access to education. Christine is also a proud Leadership Wilkes-Barre graduate and member of their Advisory Council, a Board Member for the Association of Fundraising Professionals NEPA Chapter, an Advisory Board Member for the Times Leader Media Group, and an active member of the Greater Wilkes-Barre Chamber of Commerce Young Professionals Council.
When she is not attending (or planning) a community event, Christine enjoys exploring NEPA walking trails, supporting local small businesses, and spending quality time with family. Christine currently resides in Kingston with her husband Thomas.
Justin M. Correll, Co-Founder of NEPA Pride Project, Mayor of Laurel Run Borough, and Principal of Solomon Elementary
Justin M. Correll brings fresh and bright energy, passion, and professionalism to his work. He is currently serving his second term as Mayor of Laurel Run, and is Principal of Solomon Elementary School in the Wilkes-Barre Area School District and Co-Founder of the NEPA Pride Project. He also co-created the NEPA Pride Scholarship Program with the mission to support local high school seniors who are majoring in a college arts program. Finally, he currently serves on the Board of Directors for the NEPA Rainbow Alliance, member of the Brewsterhout Committee, NEPA Inclusive: Celebrate Inclusive Committee, Co-founder of the NEPA GAYLA and member of the GWC Diversity Council and more. He believes that the world is full of opportunities to embrace, experience and enhance our communities.
Mike McGinley, Major Accounts Executive and Digital Strategist at Times Leader Media Group
Mike is heavily involved in the community, serving as Vice Chair of the Ambassador Council Greater Wilkes-Barre Chamber of Commerce, member of the Board of Directors and Marketing Chairperson for Junior Achievement of NEPA, and on committees for CASA of Luzerne County and Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Bridge.
Additionally, he serves as a Board member for Wilkes-Barre POWER! –a professional networking group with a membership of more than 500 that has donated more than $12,000 to area non-profits in the last year. Mike also conceptualized the “Weis Markets/Times Leader Year of Giving –Strengthening Our Local Communities” initiative which features a non-profit each month since 2019 and awards a $500 monetary donation. He enjoys reading non-fiction, searching for the latest spot to visit “around town,” and hanging out with his tuxedo cats, Kennedy and Fitz.
